Executive & Operating
For over 20 years I’ve worked in-house to help companies of all stages stand up, scale, and build high-performing teams. I’ve owned Marketing, Sales, Product, Engineering, Data, Customer Service, and Ops, and do my best work when I approach cross-functional problems with a GM-oriented mindset. I believe you should only be in-house if you deeply believe the mission is something you can build for 10+ years, and the Founder/CEO is someone you can learn from. Operating is not for the faint of heart, and I love the chaos of it all.
Consulting & Advising
These days I consult and advise tech companies looking to stand up, improve or scale their Growth, Brand or Product Marketing function. I work across B2C, B2B, and marketplace businesses, and ideally companies that are mission driven and have global ambitions. I also step in to consult and support Marketing and Growth leaders, as well as early-career executives (especially female executives) across areas like Executive Presence, Operational Acumen, Board Management and broader Leadership development.
Keynote Speaker, Teacher & Training
I started my career in education and was a professor before I was a Marketer. I deeply believe in hands-on learning, the codification of those learnings and sharing them with the masses. Over the years I’ve spoken at hundreds of conferences across the globe, including ones like Web Summit, Dreamforce, Inbound, eRetailer, SMX, Traction, CTA Conference, SIC, SearchExchange, MozCon, DomainFest, Pubcon, Growth Marketing Conference and many more. I’ve also taught Growth, Brand and Product Marketing courses for Reforge, and was an adjunct professor at University of Washington. I love keynoting, speaking, training and teaching of all kinds, and the connections it brings.
Angel Investing
I’m an active angel investor, specifically interested in supporting startups focused on improving the ways we work and live our lives. I am the ideal angel investor for Founders looking for support on how to tell a story around the revolution they are aiming to build and the massive impact it will have. I bring decades of experience across Growth, Brand and common early stage challenges so unlike other angel investors who simply write a check, I’ll offer you hands-on experience, an exceptionally strong network of actionable resources and a no-nonsense voice as you work through the things keeping you up at night.
Connector & Drinker of Strong Coffee
Outside of the many roles I play, I get the most joy out of meeting new builders and seeing how I can support them through my network, amplifying their voice and sometimes just meeting for a coffee and sharing how hard the entrepreneurial journey is (oh yeah I founded a company once, will save that story for another day). I am especially passionate about meeting with underrepresented Founders and builders in tech, and believe the most valuable thing for a Founder (outside of finding PMF, am I right?) is the right introduction, at the right time or simply a reminder that great things take time, and you’re not alone.
